Premiere: November 6: Kristof Magnusson, born in Hamburg in 1976, studied at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig. He now lives in Berlin. His comedy ‘Shelter for Men’ has remained in the repertoire of the Wartburg since 2007 and continues to enjoy the utmost success. His novel ‘It Wasn’t Me,’ which provided the basis for our theatre version, was published in 2010. Read more

Tragic Death of Juliano Mer-Khamis

It is with enormous sadness that we report the tragic death of Israeli Arab actor and political activist and film-maker Juliano Mer-Khamis, who was shot dead on Monday 4th April at the theatre he founded in the Jenin Refugee Camp.
We wish to express, on behalf of the ETC board members, our ETC friends and colleagues, our sympathy to his family, friends and the people of Jenin whose lives he has changed. Read more

The European wide campaign led by Culture Action Europe 'We are more' has been launched in October 2010. It seeks to mobilise everyone who cares about culture, calling on decision-makers to strengthen the recognition of the role of arts and culture in the development of our societies, by explicitly supporting culture in the upcoming negotiations on the next EU budget. Artists declare state of emergency in Belarus

One year ago in the presidential election in Belarus, the country turned against the man who had perverted the democratic republic into a one-man dictatorship. One year ago, literally overnight, Belarus further regressed into a paranoid police state which sees a potential enemy in every citizen. As a class, artists have no executive powers but time and again in countries all over the globe it is our voices that have reminded statesmen and politicians of their moral duty to act for the redress of injustice. Young Europe: You are in! Du bist dabei ! - E’ il tuo momento! - Ideš dalje!

Following the successful 1st edition of the project Young Europe, three ETC partner theatres,the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Zagreb Youth Theatre and Fondazione TeatroDue Parma, come together to develop the spin off project "Young Europe: You are in!", an international classroom play project for young people (15-20 years old) in three languages and three different productions to be shown in German, Croatian and Italian schools and theatres. The premiere of the German version will take place on November 8, 2011 in Berlin. Read more

EUROPOLIS 2050 - 2nd International Theatre Youth Forum

From June 24 to July 3, 60 young people from 6 countries (Luxembourg, Norway, Hungary, Turkey, Israel and Germany) meet at the 2nd International Theatre Youth Forum as part of the European festival programme EUROPOLIS 2050 to work with theatre professionals from Germany, Finland and Israel to stage a performance around the theme: „Europe in 40 years“. The public presentation of the performance by and with all young participants takes place on Sunday, July 3 at 11.30 a.m. at the Schildehalle, a former factory hall. A film documentary will capture the unique experiences of the Young People and will be screened afterwards in the participating ETC theatres across Europe. Read more

Festival for young stage directors at the Staatstheater Braunschweig in Germany

»Fast Forward« is the first European festival for young directors in German-speaking countries. Eight productions from eight countries were presented. Only young artists and direction students taking their first steps towards professionalism were invited. An international jury was present and selected the best production during the festival.
The award winner is the Danish stage director Jonas Corell Peterson with his production "The Sorrows of young Werther", adapted from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a production of the Det Norske Teatret and the Norwegian Kunsthogskolen in Oslo. Read more
Workshop on EU Structural Funds - How to enhance the support of the EU Structural Funds to the cultural and creative industries?
Within the platform on the potential of cultural and creative industries, the ETC has volunteered together with the other platform member organistations (European Film Company Alliance, European Forum for Architectural Policies and Culture Action Europe) to prepare a workshop on 'how to enhance the support of the EU Structural Funds to the cultural and creative industries'. It will take place at CIVA in Brussels on Thursday 17 February 2011.
Longterm effects: Trames 3 and Trames 5
Thanks to the projects Trames 3, the play "Holy Land", by Mohammed Kacimi, translated 3 years ago (2007) and Trames 5 translating the play "La Petite pièce en haut de l'escalier", by Carole Fréchette in 2010, new theatre performances are continuously produced worldwide. 1st Young Europe Festival in Strasbourg 19 – 24 November 2010

After successful tours of 8 new European classroom plays seen by over 9000 young people in Cyprus, France, Germany, Great Britain, Norway and Switzerland the Théâtre Jeune Public / CDN d’Alsace hosts under the umbrella of the ETC the 1st Young Europe Festival in the heart of Europe, Strasbourg! With performances in theatres, schools, the European Parliament and the European Court of of Human Rights. Orient Express - A European Theatre Journey

From May 14th to July 5th, 2009, under the umbrella of the European Theatre Convention (ETC), six nation-wide renowned ETC partner theatres collaborated on the unique artistic “Theatre Orient Express” project that left Istanbul and headed towards the west on May 14, 2009. Train stations in countries throughout Europe have been filled with theatre and cultural activities. The movie of the project can be download through this link.
