Ghetto Premieres at the Cameri

Ghetto, a play by Joshua Sobol describing daily life in the Vilna Ghetto and the theatre company created there under impossible conditions, premiered at the Cameri Theatre on March 8, directed by Omri Nitzan. For Noam Semel, Director of the Cameri, the play has come full circle - it was first produced at the Haifa Theatre in 1984, when Semel was its director. Read more

The first productions invited to the Theatre-Biennale NEW PLAYS FROM EUROPE are revealed. New European discoveries in Wiesbaden and Mainz include Allegretto Albania by Stefan Çapaliku from the Albanian National Theatre Tirana, Boat for Dolls by Milena Marković from the Serbian National Theatre Novi Sad and The Man Who Ate the World by Nis-Momme Stockmann by the Theatre & Orchester Heidelberg. President Shimon Peres, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate will open ETC's next General Assembly October 28-31,2010 hosted by the Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv : Multilingualism in the Theatre of the Future
Overcoming language borders in drama theatre will be the central topic of the ETC's next General Assembly. With experts we will shed light on translation aspects which are relevant to stage plays in a foreign language. Which technical know-how and equipment is needed, how are the relationships between actors and directors in surtitled performances affected and how are translation and interpretating skills adapted for the stage? The ETC publishes the 9th edition of the biannual selection of the 120 best contemporary European plays for the stage. Stories written by 128 playwrights from 41 countries in 37 languages and staged on European theatres for all generations give an insight into the European cultural landscape: “European Theatre Today”.
