Young Europe 3

Young Europe 2

After two highly successful editions of Young Europe, we are preparing the third edition of the project. Young Europe III will take place within the framework of ENGAGE from 2017-2020.

The ambitious and energetic European artistic education flagship project, launched in 2008, creates plays with a true European resonance and makes them come alive for young people in schools and theatres ,showing a genuine cross-border co-operation in action with original, engaging theatre that transcends national, cultural and even language barriers.

Building upon the expertise of the collaboration model, ETC Member Theatres will work in pairs to co-produce new texts and performances with and for young people (age 14-18). The productions will be made for theatres, classrooms or site-specific locations. They are small-scale, easy to tour and exchange between presenting theatres.

As with previous versions, the project has a strong focus on playwrighting and continues the creation of a new European repertoire for young people.
This time the resulting artistic form will be documentary-based theatre. Research, using an online education tool, will involve youngsters in the participating theatres.

A “Young Europe III Festival” will be hosted by one of the participating theatres, where performances will be combined with public talks and creative sessions for the professional and young audiences.

6-8 ETC Member Theatres are invited to this project as project partners, following a call, in October 2017. Participating theatres will commit to the entire project time and receive from ETC a cofinancing grant towards travel costs, artist fees and participation in the festival.
