Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden

Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, since the season 2002/ 2003 under the artistic direction of Dr. Manfred Beilharz, is the State Theatre of the capital of the Land of Hessen. Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden is a state theatre for drama, opera, ballet, concert, and youth theatre and defines itself consciously as European Theatre in many of its activities. The theatre employs 550 artists and technicians with annual contracts. It presents for example a large variety of European drama productions, which are shaped from different aesthetic handwriting in staging by stage-directors as Tilman Gersch, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Beat Faeh, Konstanze Lauterbach, Cesare Lievi, Slobodan Unkovski and the "young generation" as Thorsten Duit, Jan Steinbach, Caroline Stolz a.o. It also among other things organises the bi-annual festival "New plays from Europe: Theaterbiennale Neue Stücke aus Europa" which is the world-wide most important festival of contemporary dramas,next edition in June 2010 and the annual festival "Internationale Maifestspiele Wiesbaden" with international productions of opera, dance and drama.

Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden had recently been invitetd to China with the production "Woyzck"/Georg Büchner, staging: Manfred Beilharz, for the festival "Theatre of Nations" to Nanjing. This production already went on tour to ETC-theatres in Ljubljana and Poznan.
